PABLO ESCANDE was born in 1971 in Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Since living in the Netherlands, he works as composer, arranger, tutor and performing musician (piano, harpsichord and organ).

 

Studies

  • He  studied piano (as his main subject) at the conservatory of his native city Buenos Aires, where, in 1990, he obtained the certi­ficate Maestro Nacional de Musica.
  • From 1991 till 1995, he studied ancient music: harpsichord, basso continuo and fortepiano with Jacques Ogg in the Netherlands.
  • In 1994 he studied orchestration for some months with Roland Voortman.
  • In 1998  he studied composition and microtonal composition with Rafael Reina at the Sweelinckconservatory in Amsterdam and since 1995 he also studied composition with the same teacher until 2002

Performances as musician

  • In the theatrical musical "De Virtuoos" (28 performances) he played the harpsichord and worked with Ina van Faassen and Sytse Buwalda. He also took part as arranger and playing the harpsichord in the “Barok"-project  by "Introdans" (36 performances) also with Buwalda.
  • Since 1993 he accompanies classes and performances by Max van Egmond as pianist and harpsichordist.
  • In 1995, 1997, 1998 en 1999 participated as tuner and harpsichord player the summer courses  “Barokmusic” of “Casa de Mateus” in Portugal.
  • He has given harpsichord concerts in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and  Japan.
  • Since 1993, he is the permanent organist of the "Onze Lieve Vrouwe" church, in Hilversum.
  • As tutor he participated in the following operas: Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Francois Guyon (Kees Olthaus), Idomeneo (Mozart), Bataclan (Offenbach), An Ode for st. Cecilia’s day, Acis and Galathea (Händel), La scala di Seta (Rossini). In the opera Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart) performed in 2003 at the Opera of Puerto Rico, apart from playing in rehearsals he also accompanied the performances on harpsichord. For the opera Don Pasquale (Donizetti), among other places performed in Luxemburg in 2001, he adapted the score for two pianos and was one of the pianists accompanying the production.
  • He regularly takes part in concerts as a pianist in the Netherlands as well as abroad.
